On February 25, 2025, during the Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES 2025) in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Felix Omatsola Ogbe, called for the establishment of an Africa-wide local content framework. This initiative aims to harmonize policies and foster cross-border partnerships among African nations, enabling them to leverage collective strengths for mutual prosperity. Ogbe emphasized that local content serves as a strategic tool for sustainable economic growth and is fundamental to economic transformation and energy security across the continent.

He highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a pivotal opportunity to position local content as a catalyst for continental industrialization. Ogbe also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing Executive Orders that have streamlined Nigeria’s oil and gas contracting processes, reducing project approval times and enhancing investor confidence.
