The Ogun State Government has sealed two companies—Quantum Steel Industry in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, and Xinfeng Plastics Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway—following fatal industrial accidents at their facilities.
Incidents Leading to Closure:
– Quantum Steel Industry: An industrial explosion resulted in multiple fatalities, with some victims still hospitalized.
- – Xinfeng Plastics Limited: A machine operator, Ishaku Monday, was electrocuted while on duty, leading to his death.
Farook Akintunde, Chairman of the State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, stated that the closures aim to investigate the causes of these incidents and implement measures to prevent future occurrences. The companies will remain closed until investigations are concluded and new safety protocols are established.
The Ogun State Government emphasizes its commitment to worker safety and warns other companies to prioritize safety procedures to avoid similar actions.
