Enugu State has made history by approving the Enugu State Climate Policy and Action Plan (ESCPAP). This marks a bold step toward sustainable economic growth and environmental resilience. Governor Peter Mbah’s administration aims to raise the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion in 2023 to $30 billion by 2031. The focus remains on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and green technology.
Importantly, the ESCPAP introduces long-term strategies such as emissions modeling, microenergy audits, and renewable energy targets. These initiatives set a benchmark for subnational climate governance in Nigeria.
