The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) kicked off a sensitisation roadshow on September 22, 2025, aimed at educating Lagos residents on the need to comply with the state’s physical planning and permit regulations. The campaign, which began from LASPPPA’s headquarters in Ikeja GRA, used public announcements to emphasise that getting approvals is mandatory for construction, demolition, remodelling or ownership changes of structures, and warned that ignoring these rules can lead to penalties. The roadshow is a precursor to a larger stakeholders’ engagement event themed “Planning Permit: The Rebirth.”
Officials, including the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Olumide Oluyinka, the Permanent Secretary, and the Special Adviser on Electronic Geographic Information System, stressed that this ongoing campaign is necessary because many Lagosians are unaware of how important planning permits are for orderly urban development and public safety. They encouraged residents to avoid unofficial agents (“touts”) and use proper channels—online platforms, LASPPPA headquarters, or district offices—to secure permits within 10 days. They also highlighted that better compliance helps the state monitor how the city grows and allows for sufficient infrastructure planning.
