– Delta Eyes Brazil-Style Ranching to Boost Food Security & Job Creation
– MoU with REA to Power Rural, Industrial Areas via Solar, Wind & Biomass
– Infrastructure Expansion in All LGAs to Support Agriculture, Energy & Value Chains
The Delta State Government has announced plans to invest in ranching and renewable energy as part of its push to kick-start agricultural and industrial development, following its recent investment mission to Brazil. State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, revealed that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is exploring Brazil’s agriculture model, particularly ranching, to expand food production, create employment, and reduce reliance on forests (which are sometimes used as hideouts for criminal activity). The state has also improved critical infrastructure across all 25 Local Government Areas, opening up access to mineral resources, industrial corridors, and potential free trade zones — all in support of this agricultural push.
Parallel to ranching, Delta is deepening engagements with renewable energy firms and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), seeking to light up the state, expand industry, and improve livelihoods. Aniagwu said that renewable interventions will help serve young graduates and women seeking jobs outside the civil service, aligning closely with the state’s MORE Agenda with emphasis on infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and industrial growth.
