The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has urged the federal government to develop crucial standards and codes aimed at improving the sustainable energy sector. This initiative is vital for Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
During the recently concluded NIEEE 2024 conference in Abuja, themed ‘Harnessing Standards for Sustainable Energy and Economic Growth,’ Engr. Felix Olu, the institute’s president, emphasized the need for these standards to combat quackery and ensure the quality of goods and services. He highlighted that establishing these measures is the only effective way for Nigeria to enhance efficiency in its energy sector.
Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and CEO of NASENI, reinforced this message by stating that aligning with global best practices is essential. He noted that such alignment ensures innovations in sustainable energy reach all regions of the country.
Halilu remarked, “Standards not only enhance our economy but also support the deployment of innovations, contributing to our development goals.”
