The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Western Zone, has suspended its strike effective September 9, 2025, following a concerted agreement between Dangote Group and NUPENG. Chief Oyewọle Akanni, IPMAN’s Western Zone Chairman, credited productive discussions with addressing concerns of alleged anti-labor and monopolistic practices by Dangote. He urged marketers to promptly resume operations, signaling a swift return to normal downstream fuel distribution.

The breakthrough was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) brokered by the Department of State Services (DSS) and mediated by the Ministry of Labour. Dangote agreed to recognize the unionization rights of its employees, ensuring these rights are exercised within the law. The process is slated to begin immediately and be completed within two weeks, with guarantees that no worker will face reprisal and no alternative unions will be imposed.
