The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) is hosting a four-day, free virtual training program from September 16–19, 2025, designed to empower journalists, creatives, and digital storytellers to shift climate coverage from abstract headlines to stories that move people—and decision-makers—to act. The certificate-style program, announced by HEDA Executive Secretary Sulaimon Arigbabu, brings together experts in climate justice, gender equality, media studies, digital technology, and creative arts. Participants will explore how to craft inclusive, relatable narratives, leveraging emerging data and tech tools to combat misinformation, lift marginalized voices, and promote accountability in climate governance.
Core modules span a wide range—from understanding the science and on-the-ground impacts of climate change to storytelling for advocacy and mastering digital platforms, framing environmental issues in the African context, and integrating climate justice with human rights. This virtual bootcamp also serves as a prelude to a more immersive residential storytelling bootcamp set for later in September, further honing participants’ ability to inspire community-level climate action.
