– Environmental restoration effortsIn a bid to tackle the growing threat of desertification, the Yobe State Environmental Protection Agency (YOSEPA) has stepped up its tree planting initiatives across the state. The agency’s General Manager, Dr. Kabir Shehu, revealed that over 10,000 seedlings have already been planted in strategic locations this year, as part of a broader effort to restore degraded land and protect the environment.
Dr. Shehu emphasized that the program also aims to raise environmental awareness among communities and encourage participation in sustainable land practices. He called on residents, institutions, and local leaders to support the campaign, noting that afforestation remains one of the most effective methods to halt the advance of desert conditions in northern Nigeria.
