The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has initiated a comprehensive flood control operation across Asaba, targeting clogged storm drains, overgrown grass, and debris buildup. Led by Director-General Patrick Ukah, the operation involves deploying environmental health officers, sanitation workers, contractors, and community volunteers across major areas—desilting drainages and transporting silts to approved dumpsites—to improve stormwater flow, reduce flooding risks, and bolster urban sanitation.

Supporting the effort, DSCTDA’s Head of Environment, Isaac Nwosu, emphasized the importance of community cooperation. He urged residents to avoid dumping waste into drains and maintain good environmental practices. “By ensuring our drains are clear, we are reducing flood risks and enhancing environmental health across the capital,” Ukah affirmed. This coordinated approach highlights a proactive, multi-stakeholder strategy to safeguard lives, property, and public infrastructure against recurring flood threats.
