In a landmark move, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) officially executed the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Julius Berger PLC for the Oloibiri Museum and Research Centre (OMRC), located in Otuabagi, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State. The agreement—signed by NCDMB Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe at the board’s Abuja liaison office—launches the 30‑month construction phase, backed by a ₦117 billion budget awarded during the Buhari administration in February 2023. Funding for the project is shared among four key partners: the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (40%), NCDMB (30%), Shell/SPDC‑NNPC (20%), and Bayelsa State Government (10%).

The OMRC will host a world-class oil and gas museum chronicling Nigeria’s hydrocarbon era since 1958, featuring geological exhibits, early drilling tools, and platforms. In addition, its research centre is designed to support field trials of indigenous oil and gas technologies and provide hands-on training for university students, fostering home-grown innovation and commercialization. Engr. Ogbe highlighted the project’s potential to generate substantial economic benefits—through job creation, tourism, education, and research—while President Tinubu celebrates the multi-sector partnership as a vital step in preserving Nigeria’s hydrocarbon legacy.
