NiMet Forecast: Rain and Thunderstorms in Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts thunderstorms and rainfall across Nigeria from Tuesday, September 17, to Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Northern Nigeria: NiMet expects thunderstorms in Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kaduna states on Tuesday morning. Thunderstorms will continue across these regions later in the day.
In the North Central region, NiMet anticipates thunderstorms in Kogi, Benue, Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Niger states in the morning. Thunderstorms will persist in the FCT, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states later in the day.
Southern Nigeria will see moderate rains in Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Rivers states during the morning. Intermittent rains will follow later in the day.
On Wednesday morning, NiMet forecasts thunderstorms for Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Kaduna states. Thunderstorms will continue in Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, and Kebbi states later in the day.
In the North Central, expect thunderstorms in the FCT, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara states in the morning. Thunderstorms will affect Nasarawa, Kogi, FCT, Kwara, and Niger states in the afternoon and evening.
The southern region will experience thunderstorms in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states in the morning. Thunderstorms will extend throughout the region later in the day.
For Thursday, NiMet predicts thunderstorms in Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, and Adamawa states during the morning. Thunderstorms will impact Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa states later in the day. The southern region will see isolated thunderstorms in Osun, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, and Bayelsa states in the morning.
