Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) has introduced the Vocational, Innovation, Business, and Empowerment Scheme (VIBES), a new initiative targeting over 110 host and pipeline communities in Rivers State. VIBES succeeds the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), which trained more than 1,400 youths since 2004 but saw fewer than 300 establish sustainable businesses.

VIBES aims to provide comprehensive support to aspiring entrepreneurs, including mentorship, networking opportunities, grants, and resources. The programme focuses on fostering innovation and sustainable business practices within the communities.

Dr. Sophia Horsfall, NLNG’s General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, emphasized that VIBES is designed to create opportunities that drive economic growth and positive social change. The initiative includes training in various sectors such as automotive engineering, advanced welding, catering and hotel management, fashion design, farm management, ICT, and photography.

By launching VIBES, NLNG reinforces its commitment to empowering local communities and promoting sustainable development through entrepreneurship.
