On April 23, 2025, a bold, youth-led initiative titled “Rivers 2050 Vision” was launched to chart a sustainable development roadmap for Rivers State, Nigeria. The project encompasses all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and seeks to engage communities in shaping the state’s long-term future.
A steering committee has been established to oversee the initiative, ensuring inclusive participation and effective implementation. Additionally, a comprehensive statewide survey will be conducted to gather insights and perspectives from residents, informing the development strategies to be adopted.
The Rivers 2050 Vision aims to address key challenges such as environmental degradation, economic diversification, and social development. By involving stakeholders at all levels, the initiative aspires to create a resilient and prosperous Rivers State by the year 2050.
