Nigeria, China Sign $328.8m Deal to Boost Power Supply

The Nigerian government has signed a $328.8 million agreement with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to strengthen its power transmission network under Phase 1 of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI).

The deal covers the construction and rehabilitation of 330kV and 132kV transmission lines across 17 sites—seven brownfield and ten greenfield—spanning 544km and boosting transmission capacity to 7,140MW.Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said the project demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to stable electricity delivery.

He praised FGN Power Company and CMEC for the milestone and urged continued focus on timely project completion.
