- Collective Action
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has called for collective action to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Nigeria. Emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and policy enforcement, he urged communities, lawmakers, and civil society to work together to eradicate the harmful practice.
He highlighted the severe physical and psychological effects of FGM on women and girls, stressing that stronger laws and grassroots education are key to protecting future generations. The Speaker also called on religious and traditional leaders to play a role in ending the practice.
With millions still at risk, stakeholders are encouraged to intensify advocacy efforts and support initiatives that promote gender rights and child protection across the country.
