– Aid Commitment Continues Amid Escalating Violence in Northeast
The United Nations has strongly condemned a mass killing of at least 63 people in Darajamal village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, which included 58 civilians and five soldiers, according to official sources. The attack—widely attributed to a non-state armed group—also saw the burning of over 20 homes, vehicles, and food supplies belonging to resettled internally displaced persons (IDPs). In a statement, the UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohamed Fall, called the killings “appalling,” extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families, and urged that those responsible be arrested and brought to justice.
Recognizing the increasing wave of violence across the BAY region (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe), the UN reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting those impacted by conflict. The organization pledged to work in collaboration with the Nigerian government to provide humanitarian relief and protection for vulnerable communities.
