On International Youth Day 2025, themed “Local Youth Actions for SDGs and Beyond,” the Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy & Development (FENRAD) celebrated the meaningful strides Nigerian youths are making toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative spotlights their creativity and commitment, especially in cean-up campaigns, sustainable agriculture, climate advocacy, civic tech solutions, inclusive education, gender equality, peacebuilding, and more
FENRAD called for stronger youth engagement through four key actions:
1. Full implementation of the Nigerian Youth Policy;
2. Greater access to green jobs, climate finance, and digital literacy;
3. Creation of inclusive platforms for youth voices in policymaking and governance;4. Increased youth participation in environmental governance and local decision-making. These steps are aimed at empowering young people as the drivers of sustainable development today—not just tomorrow.
