Federal Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has pledged that all Nigerians will benefit from full and uninterrupted electricity before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term in 2027, affirming the administration’s commitment to drastically improve power supply nationwide. He highlighted that Nigeria has already added 1,700 MW in just under two years, a feat previously requiring decades, and projected generation capacity to reach around 8,000 MW by the end of the mandate, supported by grid upgrades and infrastructure investments.

Amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the national grid and curb vandalism of power infrastructure, Adelabu described the current improvements as “just the tip of the iceberg.” He reaffirmed that sustained reforms—such as rolling out new transformers, enhancing transmission capacity, and expanding both grid and off‑grid access—will be key to achieving consistent and reliable electricity for homes, businesses, and industries across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 deadline.
