Lagos State’s Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, under the leadership of Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab, ordered the closure of Light House Club, located on Admiralty Way in Lekki, after it repeatedly violated noise pollution laws. Enforcement was executed by a joint team—comprising the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA)—following multiple official warnings that the club ignored.
Wahab emphasized that the closure will remain in effect until the nightclub implements proper soundproofing and undergoes inspection by LASEPA to confirm compliance with allowable noise levels. He further clarified that Lagos prioritizes residents’ rights to peaceful enjoyment of their environment over commercial interests, reinforcing that environmental laws are mandatory for all entertainment venues.
