SAGLEV Electromobility Nigeria Limited, in partnership with Dongfeng Motor Corporation, unveiled the M‑Hero 917, a full‑size luxury electric off‑road SUV, at a launch event in Lagos on 17 July 2025. Boasting more than 1,000 horsepower, a four‑motor all‑wheel‑drive system, and the ability to tackle steep slopes, deep water, and rugged terrain, the M‑Hero combines raw power with smart off‑road capability. This flagship model is being assembled in SAGLEV’s Ikorodu, Lagos plant, which currently produces up to 2,500 vehicles per annum but has excess capacity to scale to 10,000 units yearly.

Dr Gbenga Faleye, CEO of SAGLEV, emphasized that electric vehicles represent Nigeria’s future, underlining that the company is the first and only EV-only assembly facility in sub-Saharan Africa. The government’s zero import duty policy on EVs is supporting local assembly, job creation, and alignment with national sustainability goals. SAGLEV’s growth is being praised by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), which confirmed the plant meets international standards and plays a key role in advancing Nigeria’s clean mobility ambitions.
