Ghana’s Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation (MESTI), alongside the EPA and UNDP support, has launched a nine-month review of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. With a 2021 baseline of 64 MtCO₂e in emissions cuts and existing mitigation-adaptation actions across 19 policy areas, the updated NDC 3.0 will extend the timeline to 2035, incorporate emerging policies like transport electrification, early warning systems, forestry restoration, and gender-responsive measures.

The process also includes a diagnostic analysis to identify gaps in finance, technology, and subnational coordination. Driven by ministerial leadership and stakeholder engagement—from private firms to CSOs—the revision will lay out investment needs estimated between US $9.3 billion and US $22.6 billion. It will culminate in a refined NDC submission by late 2025, positioning Ghana not only to strengthen its climate resilience but also to foster green growth, attract investment, and support its just transition goals.
