Skilled Women Initiative (TSWINI), supported by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, has successfully trained and empowered 30 economically marginalized women in the FCT as part of its RideVolt Electric Mobility Programme. Over a four‑week, hands-on course, participants mastered electric tricycle (keke) assembly, driving, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures. Each graduate received a full electric mobility toolbox, positioning them at the forefront of Nigeria’s green transport evolution.
At the graduation event, TSWINI founder Chisom Nwankwo highlighted how the programme creates sustainable income opportunities while cutting greenhouse gas emissions—supporting Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement. Ten of the graduates will join RideVolt’s service network, operating electric tricycles in estates, universities, hospitals, and markets using provided vehicles and mobile charging units. Participants will be onboarded onto a driving app and formally employed under skilled-community transport schemes, with plans to scale the model across Nigeria.
