The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) is set to present its highly anticipated book, Nigeria Media Renaissance: GOCOP Perspectives on Online Publishing, on June 17, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel at 10 a.m.. The event, chaired by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, will also launch a fundraiser aimed at securing ₦2.3 billion to establish the GOCOP Media Centre—a modern hub featuring a secretariat, 21st-century library, and multifunctional event halls. According to GOCOP President Maureen Chigbo, the book chronicles the transformative journey of Nigeria’s online media, spotlighting how digital publishing has reshaped public discourse, enhanced transparency, and contributed to national development.

Founded by around 120 senior editors and veteran journalists, GOCOP exists to uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and peer accountability in online media. The launch is expected to bring together prominent figures from government, the private sector, academia, media, and civil society to discuss the challenges and prospects of digital journalism. By emphasizing media ethics, press freedom, and civic responsibility, GOCOP aims to “sanitize” the online publishing space and solidify its critical role in promoting democracy and accountability .
