The NEPL/Seplat Joint Venture (JV) has launched a series of sustainability initiatives in Ologbo N’ugu, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State. These include the commissioning of an 18.45KWP solar-powered mini-grid capable of supplying electricity to 138 homes and businesses, the graduation of 53 youths from the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP) focused on solar energy skills, and the unveiling of a community borehole to enhance access to potable water. The YEP, conducted in collaboration with EtinPower Limited, trained participants in designing, installing, and maintaining solar infrastructure, with six outstanding graduates receiving awards during the ceremony.
Edo State Governor, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, represented by Mr. Saturday Egbadon, Director-General of the Edo State Electrification Agency, commended the public-private partnership, noting that the projects align with the state’s “Operation Light Up Edo” initiative. Community leaders, including Chief Gius Eheneden, Ero of Umughunu, expressed appreciation for the transformative impact of these projects and pledged continued support for future development efforts.
