The Embassy of Denmark in Nigeria, in collaboration with Academic Associate PeaceWorks (AAPW), has initiated a two-year climate adaptation project targeting four vulnerable communities in Bayelsa and Delta states. This initiative aims to enhance local capacities to mitigate climate change impacts and foster green and blue economic development. The project focuses on sustainable practices in both marine and terrestrial environments, emphasizing conservation and resource management in the Niger Delta region.
During a stakeholders’ forum in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Denmark’s Senior Programme Manager, Nosakhare Ayejimiwo, highlighted the importance of locally-led solutions to address the unique challenges faced by Niger Delta communities. AAPW Executive Director, Judith Asuni, emphasized the project’s goal to promote sustainable practices and resource management. Bayelsa State Commissioner for Agricultural and Natural Resources, Prof. Beke Sese, expressed the state’s commitment to leveraging its rich natural resources to combat poverty and enhance food security.
