At the 2025 Nigerian Oil & Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, TotalEnergies underscored its enduring commitment to Nigeria’s energy sector and its significant strides in promoting local content. Represented by Cyprian Ojum, Deputy General Manager for Nigerian Content, Managing Director Matthieu Bouyer emphasized the company’s consistent investments over six decades, even during periods of economic and regulatory uncertainty. He highlighted key projects such as Akpo, Ofon Phase 2, and Egina, noting that the Egina project achieved 67% Nigerian content, while the more recent Ikike project recorded 90% local participation, with four major contractors being Nigerian.
Bouyer also discussed the Ubeta gas project, which reached Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2024, and is set to supply gas to Nigeria LNG by 2027. He hinted at upcoming developments like the Amenam/Kpono shallow-water gas project, aligning with Nigeria’s drive to boost gas production and energy transition. TotalEnergies’ approach aligns with Section 2 of the Nigerian Content Act 2010, focusing on creating and retaining value within the country. The company’s commitment extends beyond past and present projects, aiming to empower local contractors and support Nigeria’s ambition to become a hub for energy excellence.
