At the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunities Fair (NOGOF) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Chief Ekperenkpo Ekpo, represented by Permanent Secretary Mr. Emeka Obi, called on oil and gas stakeholders to collaborate in increasing production to meet the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota. Nigeria’s current output stands at 1.4 million barrels per day, below the 1.8 million barrels per day quota approved by OPEC. The minister emphasized that, given the nation’s oil reserves and industry commitment, achieving the quota is attainable.
The theme of NOGOF 2025, “Driving Investment and Production Growth: Shaping a Sustainable Oil and Gas Industry through Indigenous Capacity Development,” underscores the importance of local content in the sector. Ekpo commended the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for increasing Nigerian content from 5% in 2010 to 56% in 2024. Approximately 1,000 companies participated in the fair, showcasing opportunities and projects aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
