The House of Representatives has approved legislative changes to the laws governing the development commissions for the South South, South West, North Central, and South East regions. These amendments are part of a broader initiative to create development commissions for all six of Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
Professor Ihonvbere, the House Leader, who proposed the amendments, stated that increasing the number of directorates within these commissions from five to twelve is necessary.
Upon the President’s assent, these commissions are intended to stimulate regional progress and development throughout the entire country. This action reflects an effort to reduce regional inequalities and encourage even development across Nigeria.
