At the upcoming Africa Technology Conference (ATC) 2025, scheduled for May 27–29 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and São Tomé & Príncipe are set to spearhead discussions on energy innovation and investment in Africa.

Tanzania’s Energy Initiatives:

Licensing Round: The Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) of Tanzania plans to auction 26 oil and gas exploration blocks in November 2025 in London. This fifth licensing round includes 23 blocks in the Indian Ocean and three in Lake Tanganyika, aiming to attract foreign investment and expand exploration activities.

Natural Gas Reserves: Tanzania possesses an estimated 57.54 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas reserves, primarily offshore. The government is offering extensive data packages for each block to assist investors in making informed decisions.

São Tomé & Príncipe’s Energy Strategies:

ANP-STP Participation: Representatives from the National Petroleum Agency (ANP-STP) of São Tomé & Príncipe, including Executive Director Álvaro Silva and Economic Director Cél­sio Quaresma, will present the nation’s forward-looking energy strategies and regional collaboration efforts at ATC 2025.

ATC 2025 serves as a platform for African nations to showcase their commitment to sustainable energy futures, fostering regional cooperation and attracting investment in the energy sector.
