- – ECOWAS and Ecobank support SMEs in off-grid solar energy sector
- – ROGEAP initiative enhances access to sustainable energy across West Africa
- – Over 50 entrepreneurs receive training in renewable energy solutions
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in collaboration with Ecobank Nigeria and the World Bank, is advancing renewable energy adoption by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the off-grid photovoltaic solar energy sector. This initiative is part of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), which aims to enhance access to sustainable energy across 12 ECOWAS member countries and seven additional African nations.
ROGEAP focuses on developing a regional market for off-grid solar energy products and services by providing financial support and capacity-building programs to SMEs. Through this program, over 50 entrepreneurs have received training to strengthen their capabilities in delivering renewable energy solutions.
This collaborative effort underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and empowering local businesses to contribute to the region’s energy transition
