Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety and employee wellbeing during the 22nd World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The company organized a week-long series of activities under the theme “Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalisation at Work.” Activities included health walks, lectures on AI in workplace safety, leadership demonstrations, and health talks addressing site-specific health challenges.

SEEPCO also highlighted its ongoing digital transformation efforts, introducing tools such as a real-time digital incident reporting system, a digital Unsafe Act and Unsafe Condition (UAUC) reporting tool, and an e-Permit to Work (PTW) system. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency, compliance, and responsiveness, leveraging advanced Health, Safety, Environment, and Fire (HSEF) data analytics, artificial intelligence, and predictive monitoring.

SEEPCO’s approach focuses on empowering employees with tools to make informed decisions, prevent harm, and foster continuous improvement in workplace safety. Additionally, the company has invested in professional development by providing specialized safety training through internationally accredited agencies.

Notably, a National Training Course on Nucleonic Gauging Equipment, Well Logging, Waste Management, and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORMs) was conducted at the National Institute of Radiation Protection and Research (NIRPR), University of Ibadan.
