– Nigeria strengthens local manufacturing for oil and gas industry
The Nigerian government has banned the issuance of import waivers for threaded pipes in the oil and gas industry to promote local manufacturing. In support of this policy, Monarch Alloys Limited has launched a new coating plant in Ikorodu, Lagos, with a capacity to coat up to 2 million square meters annually.
The facility, which will cater to both onshore and offshore pipeline projects, was inaugurated by government officials, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who emphasized the importance of supporting local industries.
The new plant aligns with Nigeria’s content development laws, encouraging local production and reducing import dependency.
