– Nigeria cold chain logistics
– Agricultural post-harvest loss solutions
– Investment in food transportation infrastructure
To address Nigeria’s staggering post-harvest losses valued at N3.5 trillion annually, experts say the country needs at least 5,000 cold trucks to ensure proper preservation and transportation of perishable agricultural produce.
This was revealed during a recent stakeholder meeting on food preservation and supply chain efficiency in Abuja.According to analysts, Nigeria currently lacks the infrastructure needed to maintain the freshness of food products from farms to markets, leading to huge economic and food security setbacks. Investing in cold-chain logistics, they emphasized, is vital to curbing food waste, improving farmer earnings, and strengthening the country’s agricultural value chain.
