The French government has officially awarded a €149 million grant to Lhyfe for its Green Horizon project, aiming to establish a large-scale green hydrogen production plant near the Grand Canal du Havre in Normandy. The facility is expected to produce up to 34 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, contributing significantly to the decarbonization of local industries and transportation. The project, recognized as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI), is slated for completion by 2029.
The funding will be disbursed over four years, beginning with an initial €18 million advance by June 2025, followed by subsequent payments tied to specific project milestones. Located near Yara’s ammonia production site, which plans to utilize green hydrogen, the plant underscores France’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy infrastructure and achieving its climate goals.
