– Lagos Island flood mitigation efforts
– Adeniji Adele emergency pumping station
– Lagos drainage infrastructure upgrades
The Lagos State Government has established an ad-hoc pumping station at Adeniji Adele Underbridge to alleviate flooding in areas such as Aroloya Street, Ojo-Giwa, Binuyo, and Oroyinyin on Lagos Island. This initiative addresses temporary drainage blockages caused by ongoing construction projects aimed at the comprehensive regeneration of Lagos Island.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the importance of resident cooperation, particularly in proper waste disposal, to ensure the success of these flood control measures.
The broader regeneration plan includes upgrading drainage infrastructure, constructing smart pumping stations, and reconstructing major roads to tackle tidal challenges.
