The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi) and LNG Arete Ltd. have signed a $27.3 million agreement to build a mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. The plant, set to be completed in 12–16 months, will process 7 million standard cubic feet of gas daily.P-CNGi will invest $6 million, while LNG Arete contributes $12 million. The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund under NMDPRA is also backing the project.
The plant aims to boost CNG supply in Northern Nigeria, supporting industries and improving energy access.The project is expected to create over 100 jobs and advance Nigeria’s gas-based industrialization strategy.
