Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has received 130 waste bins from the French Embassy in Nigeria to help curb plastic pollution on campus and nearby communities. The initiative, in partnership with the Centre for Environmental Management and Control (CEMAC) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, aims to promote proper plastic waste disposal and environmental sustainability.
Prof. Sunday Ogbaga, Director of AE-FUNAI’s Centre for Climate Change and Development, noted that the bins will support the university’s broader eco-friendly efforts, including recycling and tree planting programs.
The French Embassy’s involvement is part of a wider action plan focused on waste management and community engagement.The project highlights growing Nigeria-France cooperation on environmental protection and AE-FUNAI’s commitment to a greener campus.
