Stakeholders have unveiled a new climate education manual designed to promote environmental awareness and climate literacy among Nigerian students. The manual, which was developed through a collaborative process involving educators, climate experts, and civil society groups, aims to integrate climate change education into the Nigerian school curriculum.The initiative was spearheaded by Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development, in partnership with the Climate and Sustainable Development Network (CSDevNet) and other environmental organizations.
The project is part of broader efforts to build climate resilience and empower young Nigerians to take action against climate-related challenges.The manual includes practical lessons on climate change impacts, sustainable practices, and community-driven solutions. It is intended to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address climate issues in their local environments.Stakeholders at the launch event emphasized the importance of mainstreaming climate education as Nigeria grapples with the realities of rising temperatures, flooding, and desertification.
They called for wider adoption of the manual across schools in Nigeria to prepare future leaders for the environmental challenges ahead.
