Okomu National Park in Edo State has experienced a significant reduction in illegal logging and poaching activities, according to its conservator, Augustine Arase. Arase attributed the success to strengthened partnerships with security agencies, non-governmental organizations, and host communities.

He explained that these collaborations have enhanced surveillance, enforcement, and environmental awareness in the park, helping to preserve endangered species and critical ecosystems. The conservator highlighted that improved community relations have also contributed to better protection of the park’s resources.

Okomu National Park, home to rare wildlife such as the white-throated monkey and forest elephants, remains a vital biodiversity hotspot. The conservator reaffirmed the park’s commitment to sustainable conservation practices.
