The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has accused Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited of breaching Nigeria’s local content laws.
The union claims the company is engaging expatriates for positions that should be reserved for qualified Nigerians.PENGASSAN’s President, Festus Osifo, stated that the violation undermines the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, which aims to prioritize Nigerian professionals and reduce reliance on foreign labor.
The union called on regulatory agencies to investigate and ensure compliance with local content regulations, stressing that such practices deprive Nigerians of employment opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
