On March 5, 2025, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu granted approval for First Bank of Nigeria to construct a 43-storey headquarters in Eko Atlantic City. The certificate of approval was presented during a groundbreaking ceremony officiated by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded First Bank’s management for their enduring legacy and commitment to innovation. He also acknowledged the Chagoury brothers, Gilbert and Ronald, for their transformative role in developing Eko Atlantic City. The governor invited other financial institutions to consider similar developments, emphasizing the state’s dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment.
Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of First Bank Holdings, highlighted the significance of the new headquarters, describing it as a modern architectural masterpiece that will serve as a hub for financial innovation, digital transformation, and operational excellence. Upon completion, the 43-storey edifice is set to become the tallest building in Nigeria and West Africa, symbolizing the bank’s strength and ambition.
