Solar Mini-Grid Project

On February 26, 2025, the Nigerian government inaugurated a 990kW solar hybrid mini-grid in Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, aiming to provide electricity to approximately 3,900 households. Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to electrifying rural communities through grid expansion and renewable energy solutions. This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to the World Bank and African Development Bank’s goal of delivering electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030. The project received support from the German government, the European Union, and the GIZ, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in enhancing Nigeria’s energy infrastructure. Chief Adelabu assured that future projects would undergo effective monitoring to ensure successful implementation and optimal resource utilization.
