The National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) has dismissed concerns over potential health risks associated with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), stating that claims of harmful gene transfer are scientifically unfounded.

Speaking at a recent briefing, NBRDA officials emphasized that extensive global research has found no evidence linking GMOs to negative health effects. They urged Nigerians to rely on verified scientific data rather than misinformation, highlighting the benefits of biotechnology in boosting food security and agricultural sustainability.
