The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has empowered 300 scavengers to help manage Borno State’s growing waste problem, estimated at 105,000 kilograms per month. This initiative aims to enhance environmental sustainability while creating economic opportunities for waste collectors.
Officials emphasize that the program will improve waste recycling, reduce pollution, and promote cleaner communities. Beneficiaries will receive training and support to turn waste into valuable resources, contributing to job creation and environmental conservation.
With Borno’s waste challenge escalating, the NEDC’s intervention is expected to transform waste management practices, improve public health, and foster a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
