The event’s theme was “Water and Food Security: Challenges and Opportunities in the Face of Daunting Climate Change.”

Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, stated that these sectors significantly affect health, economic growth, and the environment. He urged the National Technical Committee to identify challenges and recommend solutions through their deliberations.

“This theme is timely as it addresses the urgent need to adapt to climate change’s impacts,” Pheelangwah said. He emphasized the importance of continuous meetings to stay ahead of evolving challenges.

Mrs. Emah Udonsek, Permanent Secretary of Akwa Ibom’s Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, echoed these concerns. She stressed that sustainable water management and food security are vital for human survival and economic growth. Additionally, she highlighted the need for innovative solutions and collaboration to tackle climate challenges.
