Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to advance two critical projects: the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline (AAGP) and the recharging of Lake Chad. Speaking at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Shettima emphasized that these initiatives could address regional energy challenges, food security, and economic growth.
On the AAGP, Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s strategic role in connecting to Morocco and other African nations, transporting natural gas to North Africa and Europe. He stressed that this project could meet growing energy demands, exacerbated by artificial intelligence and data mining.
Shettima also discussed the importance of recharging Lake Chad, addressing food security in the Sahelian region, and generating clean energy. He described how recharging the lake could potentially change the agricultural landscape and combat terrorism in the region.
Furthermore, Shettima outlined Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustained economic growth. He also invited WEF President Børge Brende to visit Nigeria and explore opportunities for collaboration.
