Damaturu – The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has urged the National Assembly to significantly increase funding for the Ministry of Livestock Development in the 2025 budget. The group argues that this step is essential for reducing insecurity and fostering peace across the nation.
KACRAN emphasized that the Ministry of Livestock Development plays a vital role in resolving herder-farmer conflicts, enhancing food security, and driving economic productivity. The association expressed confidence in the ministry’s leadership, headed by Honourable Alh. Idi Muktar and supported by a team of experienced professionals.
In a statement signed by Hon. Khalil Moh’d Bello, KACRAN’s National President, the group highlighted the importance of empowering rural communities and ensuring the ministry has sufficient resources. It warned that inadequate funding could limit the ministry’s ability to fulfill its mandate, which might worsen current challenges in the livestock sector.
The association appealed to lawmakers to increase the proposed budget for the ministry. This, it argued, would stimulate agricultural production, create jobs, boost economic growth, and enhance peace in the country.
KACRAN also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development and appointing competent leadership. Additionally, the group called on Northern governors to establish similar ministries in their states to strengthen security and economic stability at the regional level.
By prioritizing funding for livestock development, KACRAN believes Nigeria can create a more peaceful and economically prosperous future.
