The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted sunshine and haziness across Nigeria from Thursday, January 16, to Saturday, January 18, 2025.
NiMet’s outlook predicts sunny skies with hazy conditions in northern Nigeria throughout the forecast period. Moderate dust haze is expected in the North Central, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.
Southern regions will experience hazy conditions with some cloud patches. Early morning fog and mist are expected along coastal areas. On Friday, the northern regions will continue with sunny skies and hazy weather, while slight dust haze with good visibility will prevail over the North Central.
Saturday’s forecast includes sunny skies and hazy conditions in the north and North Central regions. The south will see ongoing hazy weather with early morning fog. Thunderstorms are expected in parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Delta states, particularly later in the day.
NiMet advises the public to take precautions due to the suspension of dust particles in the air. Individuals with respiratory issues, such as asthma, should be cautious. The agency also warns of strong winds ahead of thunderstorms and urges airline operators to obtain specific weather reports.
