At the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, President Bola Tinubu highlighted the importance of global collaboration in achieving sustainable development. Speaking on “From Climate Imperatives into Economic Prosperity: Bridging Africa with the Global Energy Future,” he underscored that no nation could achieve sustainability alone.

Tinubu emphasized that climate change presents both an environmental and economic challenge, calling for innovation and collective action across borders. “We stand at a critical juncture,” he said, urging global leaders to act together for a resilient world.

The Nigerian president also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, with actionable programs focused on energy transition, climate resilience, and sustainable development. He pointed to initiatives like the National Clean Cooking Policy and the promotion of compressed natural gas and electric vehicles.

Nigeria’s push for a green economy includes investing in clean energy solutions, climate-smart agriculture, and harnessing solid minerals for renewable energy. Additionally, Tinubu revealed that Nigeria had become Africa’s first country to fund green projects through Sovereign Green Bonds, with a third issuance underway.

Addressing the pressing environmental challenges of deforestation, desertification, and pollution, Tinubu called for international support and resource mobilization. He urged partners to invest in sustainable practices across Africa, emphasizing the need for technological innovation and global cooperation to create a thriving green economy.
